Judges and Sexual Discrimination

Some people have questioned the judge's objectivity in cases of GMAT discrimination against
women. But the record shows that in sixty percent of such cases, the judge has decided in
favor of the women. This record demonstrates that the judge has not discriminated against
women in cases of GMAT discrimination against women.
The argument above is flawed in that it ignores the possibility that
A. a large number of the judge's cases arose out of allegations of GMAT discrimination against
women
B. many judges find it difficult to be objective in cases of GMAT discrimination against women
C. the judge is biased against women defendants or plaintiffs in cases that do not involve
GMAT discrimination
D. the majority of the cases of GMAT discrimination against women that have reached the
judge's court have been appealed from a lower court
E. the evidence shows that the women should have won in more than sixty percent of the
judge's cases involving GMAT discrimination against women

Expert please explain why (B) is wrong???

IMO E

We have to prove that judges have discriminated against women in GMAT discrimination cases.

B says it is difficult for judges to be fair(objectivity=fairness) but doesn't say that the judges have actually been unfair. Hope this helps!

Yes, E it is.

The passage starts with the quote as "Some people have questioned the objectivity", and later part of the passage tries to show that the judges has not discriminated. but option B just states that judges find it difficult to be objective which no where correlated to the 2 arguments discussed in the passage. Hence it could not be B.

Premise: The judge decided in favor of the women in 60% of GMAT discrimination cases
Conclusion: The judge has not discriminated against women in GMAT discrimination cases.

B) Many judges find it difficult to be objective in cases of GMAT discrimination against women
Does this mean that the judge in the passage is not objective? No - many judge does not equal all judges.
Also, even if the judge in the passage does find it difficult to be objective in cases of GMAT discrimination, we can't conclude that the judge wasn't objective. Difficult does not equal impossible.

E is the best answer because it says that more than 60% of those women should have won their cases.

IMO : D . it says many cases are appealed from lower courts. It provides an alternate reason that we the people were not agreeing with the verdict of lower courts and then appealed to the higher courts. This gives us a room to infer that the judges in the lower court might have shown discrimination against women.
