Crackgmat.com Ques#8 on Ratio

This is an easy one, but to me, the answer is A, instead of D. Ratio is r:s which to me is 35:25 (A). Can someone explain this better?

Question # 8
35 % of Ram’s income is equal to 25% of Sita’s income. The ratio of their incomes is:

(A) 7:5

(B) 4:3

(C) 4:7

(D) 5:7

(E) 3:4

Your Answer : A
Actual Answer : D

Explanation provided by Crackgmat.com
Let Ram’s income be R and Sita’s income be S

We have, (35/100)R = (25/100)S

Hence R/S = 25/35 = 5/7.

Hence (D) is the correct answer.

Ans should be D.. Question mentions Ram first and then Sita.. that means we need to calculate Ram's income (R) to Sita's Income (S) ratio..

35*R/100 = 25*S/100

R/S = 25/35 = 5/7

Another way to confirm your answer is:

Since 35% of Rams income = 25% of Sita's income it means that

Ram's income < Sita's income

which means Ram's income/Sita's income will be < 1
