Blah! Stupid me, I just realized , i did not notice the word 'NO' besides preference in A.

Based on that, i'l jump onto the D bandwagon as well.

C does NOT say anything about representativeness. It only says that no market survey is of at least half the population. However, a market survey, such as this one, could be of a representative sample of the population, even if only a small percentage of the population is surveyed.

For example, if there were a way to ask every American born between 10:00 and 10:15 am on the first day of any month how he/she felt about Lady Gaga, would we not get a fair idea of how Americans feel about her?

D correctly points out that preferences may be held for one of a host of reasons other than taste

Kevin thanks for the logical explanation why C is wrong.

I would appreciate if you could comment on other CR brutal questions too.

Hi Rishab,
I selected D.

Here's why.

Have you ever wondered why every company in the world or another example more relevant
to us claim that they are no. 1 ? :-)
If you ask them they can even give you statistics...
Like College X is no.1 because it has 1000 acres of land more than that of any other college.
College Y tells its also no.1 because survey said that 10 students feel that there college has the
biggest campus. (May be the students didn;t even see college X. They just feel so :-) )

So we can't really tell that the surveyors interpreted the results correctly.
May be the ppl surveyed told they like it because its cheaper.. but surveyor wanted only yes/ no
answer... So the answer he chose was "Yes" :-)

Plus... There is no reason for us to conclude that Preference == Taste preference.
