I'm a current sophomore at Cornell majoring in economics, but am considering an internal transfer into majoring in applied economics and management (AEM). I plan on getting my MBA, whether it is trying to go directly after obtaining my undergraduate degree or after working for two years. As far as GPA is concerned, it is easier to sustain a higher GPA as an AEM major rather than an economics major. For the purposes of both entering the work force and graduate school, will companies and schools recognize that it is harder to sustain a high GPA in economics (BA) than AEM (BS)? Ultimately what is the better choice for the path I am seeking? I only ask because if employers and graduate schools do not realize the difference in difficulty for AEM vs. Econ then it is clear that AEM is the right choice.
