Let
a = Number of students who take Only German classes
b = Number of students who take German and French classes
c = Number of students who take Only French classes
d = Number of students who take German and Spanish classes
e = Number of students who take all the three classes
f = Number of students who take French and Spanish classes
g = Number of students who take Only Spanish classes
From the question,
a+b+c+d+e+f+g = 200, e=f=0 and a+b+d+e(=0) = 100. Implies a+(b+d) = 100
Now the rephrased question is What is the value of b+d ?
1)80 of the students study only German.
Implies a = 80. As the value of a+(b+d) = 100, The value of (b+d) = 20.Hence Sufficient!
2)120 students study French Or Spanish
Implies b+c+d+e+f+g = 120.
a+b+c+d+e+f+g = 200.
So, a = 80. As the value of a+(b+d) = 100, the value of (b+d) = 20.Hence Sufficient!
Answer D. PFA the venn diagram.
