midpoint = (x1+x2)/2, (y1+y2)/2
take both values and do the above and u'll come out with a value

That is the bit I know, but then I have the result expressed in a and b. Is this SUFF?

Nope, you'll get a value

C (a, 1-b)
D (1-a, b)

x coordinate = (a+1-a)/2 = 1/2 = 0.5

y coordinate = (1-b+b)/2 = 1/2 = 0.5

Mid point coordinates of CD = (0.5,0.5)

Hope this helps.
