(1) p and x are consecutive integers.
(2) p minus ô€€€ 4 is divisible by 5.

I got a C but the answer is E

1) p and x can be (2,3) and (5,6) either - A out

2) relation btwn p and x not known

C) if p minus ô€€€ 4 is divisible by 5.
then
p = 9 or 14 or 19
and X is consecutive

So yes it is possible to determine

whwy is E teh right answer

If OA is B, IMO C
If OA is C, IMO D
If OA is D, IMO E
If OA is E, IMO A

If p and x are integers, is x divisible by 5 ?
(1) p and x are consecutive integers.
Insufficient as it doesn't specify the values, or factors of p and x. (p,x) can be (2,3),(3,2),(4,5),(5,4)....
(2) p minus ô€€€ 4 is divisible by 5.
p-4 = 5*m (where m = Integer), Implies p = 5m + 4
Insufficient as we are not sure of the value of x

From 1 and 2
x = p+1 or p-1
x = 5m+4+1 or 5m+4-1
x = 5m+5 or 5m+3
x = 5m+5 is divisible by 5 and
x = 5m+3 is not divisible by 5
So, even after using both the statements, we cannot tell if x is divisible by 5

Hence E

E is right because if 9 and 10 are consecutive numbers then 8, 9 also are. :)

for example if P is 9 then X can be either 8 or 10.

consecutive number of x is x+1, but not x-1 in my opinion.
so 8,9 are consecutive but not 9,8

here it is E because they just mentioned p,x are integers,
hence they can be -ve integers as well :)
try your logic now. it will be E
