by the way, just fyi, the use of "dear xxxxx" is inappropriate in professional communication; that sort of thing is, in essence, reserved for family members or unusually close friends.

there is exactly one exception: it's okay (and commonplace) to begin a letter with "Dear xxxxx" as an opening. in any other professional context whatsoever... nope.
Ron has been teaching various standardized tests for 20 years.

Hello Sir,

Just wanted to thank you personally for all your advice and mentoring. :)

I have written my GMAT and scored a 700 (Q47, V39, IR 7, AWA 5.5) - 20 points less than my target score.
