yes and no pal. it does help 'diversify' the class - as mentioned by multiple M7 alums across online blogs.

this info is from multiple alum feedbacks anyway so its not my opinion to begin with.

Yes I had my interview about a week and half after getting an invitation. CBS has alumni ambassadors interview and will give you a choice of 3 people in your area--if you can't get any of the three to confirm, you can go back into the system and search again for another three. They allow this until they have given you up to 9 ambassadors to contact. My interviewer was from the first group of 3. It was a bit tough coordinating schedules with a busy working alum but eventually I did. Because you are being interviewed by alumni--I suppose there isn't much inside information that I could provide to assist with anyone having a future interview. The person may or may not want your resume beforehand--mine did. The interview was very informal and conversational regarding my previous experience (based on my resume) and intended goals. Although he didn't have access to my entire application, he did ask my GMAT score and GPA for "informational" purposes. They told me to bring ID along but he never asked. Overall, I thought it went very well. The interviewer has to submit a form online and your app status will be updated when that is done--so you know exactly when it was submitted. My interviewer submitted the form the next day. So, now is the dreaded waiting game. I will keep you guys posted should I hear back anything.

Goodluck to everyone!

PS: Not sure if I got an interview so quickly because I was an exact match. But just to give you an idea of my background - yes Female, Af-Am, 710 GMAT, 3.0 GPA @ Ivy League, 5 years non-profit marketing experience, 2 years small business owner. (So, yes Niraj--I guess I am an all-around "add diversity" to the class type applicant.)

Thanks for the great summary Dash. I wish you the best of luck!

Has anyone else recently heard from Columbia for an interview? This waiting game is truly agonizing.
