Data Sufficiency question Ratio HELP

What is the ratio of the number of cups of flour to the number of cups of sugar required in a certain cake recipe?

1. The number of cups of flour required in the recipe is 250% of the number of cups of sugar required.

2. 1 1/2 more cups of flour than cups of sugar are required.


I thought the answer was C... but it is A

Can someone please explain? thanks :)!!

Q: Number of cups of flour/Number of cups of sugar = ?

1. Number of cups of flour = 2.5 * number of cups of sugar

=> Number of cups of flour/Number of cups of sugar = 2.5 - Sufficient

2. F = 1.5 + S (F = Nu. of cups of flour, S = No. of cups of sugar)

This is not sufficient because there is no way to determine Number of cups of flour/Number of cups of sugar.

Let number of cups of flour = F and number of cups of sugar = S
We have to find F:S

(1) F = 250% of S
F = 2.5S
2F = 5S
F:S = 5:2; SUFFICIENT.

(2) F = S + 3/2 does not give us the ratio of F:S; NOT sufficient.

The correct answer is A.
