sc questions i dont understand from gmat prep

First, I am copying the problem here for the ease of other users. It's better to write a problem than to attach it in another document.
Unlike most severance packages, which require workers to stay until the last day scheduled to collect, workers at the automobile company are eligible for its severance package even if they find a new job before they are terminated.
A) the last day scheduled to collect, workers at the automobile company are eligible for its severance package
B) the last day they are scheduled to collect, workers are eligible for it at the automobile company’s severance package
C) their last scheduled day to collect, the automobile company offers its severance package to workers.
D) their last scheduled day in order to collect, the automobile company’s severance package is available to workers.
E) the last day that they are scheduled to collect, the automobile company’s severance package is available to workers.
yes, (D) and (E) are very close. but somehow i picked (D) when i saw your post. perhaps i could have picked (E) as well in a moment of hurry
i find a minor problem (to me, at least) with (E). It's not very clear what the workers are scheduled to collect- "severance package" or "day". so, i think (D) is better.

They cannot refer the antecedent "day"

Did I ever say that "they" refers to "day"??? I only said that in (E) it's not clear what the workers are scheduled to collect. what is the relative pronoun "that" modifying? is it modifying "the severance package" or is it modifying "the last day"? hope that clears the doubt.iamcste wrote:They cannot refer the antecedent "day"Uri wrote: i find a minor problem (to me, at least) with (E). Since the start of space age, more and more littering has occured in orbits near Earth, often because of the intentional discarding of lens caps, packing material , fuel tanks and payload covers.
a) same <- Wrong as misplaced modifier
b) orbits near Earth have become more and more littered , often from<- The usage of Since shows that the act started in past and continues till now.. Thus use of HAVE is correct
c) orbits near Earth became littered more and more, often resulting from<- Wrong as Since is used in Start
d) there have been more and more littering of orbits near Earth, often because of<- wrong Modifier usage
e) there had been littering more and more of orbits near Earth, often with<- wrong Modifier usage
IMO B

<- That should be with Convinced because .. Sentence "just as one third " shows that one third are also convinced along with number of people...

For Q 2 related to Utah ..
Idiom so many X that Y should be used..
and Use of Since shows that the action continues till now... Thus use of have been is correct... Ans E
