Here Meaning plays the important Role. It should be clear that the Greek authorities are requesting the British Museum.

Despite forceful legal pleas for the restitution of expropritaed cultural artifacts to the place of their origin, the british Museum continues to rebuff the Greek authorities requesting that it should return the Parthenon marbles removed from the Acropolis by Lord Elgin in 1806

A. "Greek authorities requesting" is wrong usage. "Greek authorities who request" is proper. Although it is true that "requesting ..." modifies Greek Authorities, this is similar to a preposition + noun + verb-ing and one should steer clear of the construction if a better is available.
B. them is wrong reference for British Museum.it is proper. Again the same construction as "A" of "requesting"
C. rebuffing request?? changes the meaning clearly.
D.This is good.
E. use of "them" similar to B.

(A)requesting as a gerund is wrong here--INCORRECT
(B)"them" is ambiguous pronoun---INCORRECT
(C) "its" is wrong because Request is by Greek Authorities---INCORRECT
(D)"who" properly qualifies Greek Authorities so "its" goes to "British Museum"-CORRECT
(E)"them" is incorrect..See the reasoning in (D)---INCORRECT

Use of AND inappropriate - as a result it appears 2nd part (its request to retun...) is not linked with the first part (The british..authorities);

ITS refering illogically to the british Museum's

NOUN PRONOUN MISMATCH: the british Museum ---them
