Time consuming problem

If x#y=(2x-y)/(2y-x) , where x <> 2y, then is a#b>b#a ?

(1) a<b

(2) 2a<b

How can we solve such problems under 2 minutes. The answer is E

Sorry, not familiar with the notation "x <> 2y". Can you clarify that?

I guess x <> 2y means NOT EQUAL to


This question is too time consuming for GMAT
as you have to consider the below cases
a b

+ -
+ +
- +
- -

and also the other conditions
This time no looking back!!!
