no improvement in 10 days--plz advise

by prachich1987 » Sun Dec 19, 2010 1:37 am
Hi,

I would be grateful is some1 can give a piece of advice.

On 09.12 I took GMAT from mba.com the scores were as below
Quant-49,Verbal-22,Total score-590

Then for next 10 days I really worked hard & took a Knewton test today & my scores were as below.
I completed the quant session before time (2mins)
But for verbal, my speed was really less & hence for the last 10 questions I had to randomly mark the answer.
Quant-46,Verbal-25,Total score-590

Actually I wanted to get into a good B-school in September 2011 & hence I was planning to take GMAT by end January.
But I can see absolutely no improvement in 10 days.
My goal is to achieve 700+
What should I do?Should I book a slot by Jan end or should I take it later.
Will I be able to score 700+ if I take in Jan end
Plz share your thoughts ASAP as I want to take date ASAP

Thanks!

You are in some hurry. :)

A month should be good enough to improve your score, provided you study well. Practice from reputed sources. Use the OG well. Eat, sleep and drink your weak areas. Good Luck!!

Let us get started with Critical Reasoning.

On Monday you weighed yourself at the Doctor's clinic and were 192 pounds. You worked out at the gym, ate right the whole week. On Friday you weighed yourself at the scale at the super market and were 193 pounds. Which of the following is true?

1. Your weight reduction plan was flawed.

2. You are predisposed NOT to loose that flab (I think I have this problem :P)

3. The scales were different hence a few points of errors.

What would you pick? I think unless you have more "evidence" you should pick 3. GMATPrep and Knewton are 2 different testing algorithms. Plus 1 week is too short a time to assess. Add to it, you have just said "working hard". Doesn't mean anything to help you here.

So my suggestion is to do some more analysis and use the GMATPrep to guage your improvement. But wait for another few weeks before you start seeing improvements in the score.

Hope this helps,

Arun

Thanks Arun!!!
It's nice to see that even unknown persons take some time out of their busy schedule & help u to get out of the problem.
Thanks to BTG too!!
I understand that GMATPrep & Knewton are two different testing algorithms.
In that case what should I do? I want to take GMAT by January end..should I take a date for GMAT or not?
