Cabinet Making

In recent years, many cabinetmakers have been winning acclaim as artists. But since furniture must be useful,
cabinetmakers must exercise their craft with an eye to the practical utility of their product. For this reason, cabinetmaking is not art.

Which of the following is an assumption that supports drawing the conclusion above from the reason given for
that conclusion?

(A) Some furniture is made to be placed in museums, where it will not be used by anyone.

(B) Some cabinetmakers are more concerned than others with the practical utility of the products they
produce.

(C) Cabinetmakers should be more concerned with the practical utility of their products than they
currently are.

(D) An object is not an art object if its maker pays attention to the object's practical utility.

(E) Artists are not concerned with the monetary value of their products

OA D

(E) Artists are not concerned with the monetary value of their products

p1 - many cabinetmakers have been winning acclaim as artists = Many CB.M = Acclaim as Artists
But --- More talks why they should not be an artist or anything else.
P2 -But, CB.M must look for the practical utility of their product
C - CB.M is not art.

Assump : CB.Ms looking for P.U of their product are not artist.

A. Some furniture is made to be placed in museums, where it will not be used by anyone.
Out of scope.

B. Some cabinetmakers are more concerned than others with the practical utility of the products they
produce.
Out of scope.[This talks about different group of CB.Ms.]

C.Cabinetmakers should be more concerned with the practical utility of their products than they
currently are. [Can we say from the given argument that Cb.Ms are less concerned about the Pract. Utility or any thing such?] No

D. It is close to our assumption .Lets keep it as a contender.

E. The argument never say about the money assoicated ith the CB.Ms' products. so out of scope.

So D is the correct answer
