Business School Choices?

I'm completing my undergrad at a top 25 semi-target university, and I am currently contemplating my 10 year plan, but I need some advice on where I should realistically be looking for business school down the road.

I will finish with about a 3.1 GPA, about a 3.4 in my major, and about a 3.8 in my senior year. Kinda blew it with the low cumulative GPA, but I did enjoy my college experience, so I have learned to deal with it. To be honest, I am a smart guy, but I partied way too much during undergrad and didn't realize the importance of a solid GPA. I finally got it together at the end of my junior year.

I took the GMAT last quarter and scored in the 99th percentile, and I am starting with a top non-IBD firm in August (Blackstone, Blackrock, Carlyle, PIMCO, Fidelity, etc.).

I am hoping I can move up within my company in the next few years and get my CFA by the time I apply.

Do I realistically have a chance to get into a top 10 school? I don't think I would really consider a business school outside of the top 10 due to the opportunity costs of a degree. Any opinions are much appreciated. Thanks.

Of course you have. Like you will see in the top college sites, the only reason you would not get for sure is if you dont apply.

I recommend working on each and every aspect of the application. community service and leadership activities.

I also recommend taking additional courses like statistics, economics etc to make up for your GPA if you think it is low.

Hi 99orBust,

Yes, you do have a chance at a top 10 school, although there will be a number of other factors (work experience, letters of recommendations, personal essays, etc.).

Congrats on your GMAT score. For your low GPA, we wrote a case study on how a client with a low GPA (sub 3.0) was accepted into Columbia and Booth. It may give you some insight for your application.

Business is a popular field that involves several other specialties such as Advertising, Criminal Justice Administration and E-Commerce being a few examples.
