51. In his experiments with gravity, Isaac Newton showed how the motion of each planet in the solar system results from the combined gravitational pull of the Sun and of all the other planets, each contributing according to their mass and distance from the others.

Ans : D
Hi Ron,

what's the difference between C and D? I think both of them are right.....

as I think in C, the "which" can be "the sun and all the other planets" which is reasonalble and it seems GMAT doesn't eliminate a choice just because of redundancy.

a clause should follow after the relative pronoun and C does not have a clause after it...
OA should be D...

A -> I guess we do not need to have ||sm in every element... of the sun and of the planets sound good but this option is wrong for not using its n instead using their..
B -> Same as B..
C -> As mentioned above
D-> Perfect
E -> S n V do not agree...each shud have contributes..

"Each" is singular and should not be paired with a plural "their."

A,B and E can be eliminated on because they use "each....their" as it is wrong.

Between C and D, I choose D as it is short and clear enough in meaning.

As I studied earlier, each can have both plural and singular noun depending whether we have plural noun before or after "each".

e.g.
The three networks each: Plural
Each of the three networks: Singular

Is this concept wrong? Over here each came after plural noun so why we don't have plural pronoun?

Hi Ron,

In case that we use "them" instead of "which", is the modified sentence considered correct? I mean, is it correct to say "The motion results from the combined gravitational pull of the Sun and all the other planets, each of them contributing according to its..."?
