17. When exercising the muscles in one's back, it is
important, in order to maintain a healthy back, to
exercise the muscles on opposite sides of the spine
equally. After all, balanced muscle development is
needed to maintain a healthy back, since the muscles on
opposite sides of the spine must pull equally in
opposing directions to keep the back in proper
alignment and protect the spine.

Which one of the following is an assumption required
by the argument?
(A) Muscles on opposite sides of the spine that are
equally well developed will be enough to keep
the back in proper alignment.
(B) Exercising the muscles on opposite sides of the
spine unequally tends to lead to unbalanced
muscle development.
(C) Provided that one exercises the muscles on
opposite sides of the spine equally, one will
have a generally healthy back.
(D) If the muscles on opposite sides of the spine are
exercised unequally, one's back will be
irreparably damaged.
(E) One should exercise daily to ensure that the
muscles on opposite sides of the spine keep
the back in proper alignment.

bible says backwards asnwer is wrong in assumption
then How OA is B ?
Cheers !!

IMO - B

Conclusion : to maintain a healthy back, it's important to exercise the muscles on opposite sides of the spine equally.
Main Premise : balanced muscle development is necessary to maintain a healthy back.

Our task is to find a connection between equal exercise and balanced development. Choice B does that.

To prove it, lets negate choice B. - "Exercising the muscles on opposite sides of the spine equally tends to lead to unbalanced muscle development. " Now see the it impacted conclusion.

Target2009.

According to me

Conclusion :balanced muscle development is necessary to maintain a healthy back.
Main Premise : muscles on opposite sides of the spine must pull equally in opposing directions to keep the back in proper alignment and protect the spine

We need a link between the the muscles on opposite sides of the spine must pull equally in opposing directions to keep the back in proper alignment and protect the spine and balanced muscle development

The choice B says that clearly
Exercising the muscles on opposite sides of the spine unequally tends to lead to unbalanced muscle development.

or if you negate it, the result is

Exercising the muscles on opposite sides of the spine unequally does not lead to unbalanced muscle development. which breaks the link between the premise and conclusion

Hi I have an issue with the way u negated B.I agree with B but i got the answer by bridging the gap between the premise and the conc.My next post.

Hi I have an issue with the way u negated B.I agree with B but i got the answer by bridging the gap between the premise and the conc.
B)Exercising the muscles on opposite sides of the spine unequally tends to lead to unbalanced muscle development.
B)Exercising the muscles on opposite sides of the spine unequally does not tend to lead to unbalanced muscle development. ---2
The stimulus conclusion is

Exercising the muscles on opposite sides of the spine equally is important, in order to maintain a healthy back

Premise :Balanced muscle development is needed to maintain a healthy back

therefore
Exercising the muscles on opposite sides of the spine equally is important for Balanced muscle development ---1

Statement 2 does not destroy statement 1
Curious to know Why

@mundasingh : I stilll can't see any difference in what you negated or what i negated.

UE = Unequal Exercise
UMD = Unbalanced Muscle Development

(B) UE = UMD
Your way : UE != UMD
My Way EE = UMD
to me [ UE != UMD ] = [ EE = UMD ]

What i know is, We need not always negate by adding "not", we should do logical negation. Obviously According to Powerprep CRBible. :D
Let me know incase you still find some loophole. :D
