Before giving out my story, would like to thank all members of this forum.
Few days (2 days) back, I took gmat test. It was disappointing to see my score - 560 (Q-44, V-24). I studied for almost 4-5 months religiously. But failed to get a good score.
Quant seemed to be easy for me (like most others). Most of the questions were from topics such as inequality, number properties, rate problems. There were couple of permutation and combination questions. Data sufficiency seemed little bit difficult for me (esp the ones with inequality, P&C). I was able to complete all the quant questions within time.
However, verbal seemed to be tough (especially Critical Reasoning). Many of the cr questions were fill in the blanks type question. Lost most of the time in the initial 10-15 questions. Hence didn't have much time in the end.
Because GMAT increases the difficulty as the exam progresses, it is too tiring. I was so tired during the verbal section that had to guess some of the questions.
Over-all the GMAT experience was similar to my practice tests using GMAT prep software. Also found the hard way that I need to focus on the GMAT prep exams more than tests.

List of material referred:
- OG11, OG-Quant, OG-Verbal
- MGMAT Strategy guides
- MGMAT tests

I am coming back for round 2. Hope to beat GMAT with 700+ score.

Keep a positive attitude and put together a study strategy. Make sure you stick to whatever strategy you come up with.

From your post, it sounds like you struggled with your stamina. Did you take full length practice tests (including the essays) prior the actual GMAT? If not, you need to include the essays in your practice test to get a better idea of the stamina needed to complete the full test.
