Hi Pranay,

Thanks for the reply.

I have a little doubt in 2 question. As per my understanding we can ignore, as well as ..... phrase. In that case John is the Subject and verb should be IS

2) This Tuesday, John, as well as his friends, is driving to the rock concert.

Please let me know if there is any rule for such phrases.

Thanks
Abhijeet

TO my understanding, what you mentioned is applicable with 'along with' not with 'as well as'. As well as makes the subject plural.

Hope it helps.

Pranay

Hi Abhijeet and Pranay

1) This sentence as a singular subject, hence is should be used here.
2) This sentence also has a singular subject - John

Always keep in mind that a subject can be made plural only with the use of and
So the given sentence is correct.
