Hi turksun,

I grew up in MA and Babson is a highly regarded business school in the Boston area. I have no official adivce, (I am just taking the MBA and working...im not an adminissions pro) however I do know that it is a great place to go if you are hoping to work in the Boston area and want a good education with a smaller campus/class student life. Some cons are the fact you will be potentially going up against Harvard/MIT/BC/BU graduates - the city has so many colleges! BUT Babson is a school focused mainly on Business, so everything around there is focused on it - and employers know that.

Hope this helps!

Hi Turksun,

In terms of how it is regarded, I think the answer is that it is all relative. You can see where it falls in the rankings if you go to the thread on Business School rankings at https://www.beatthegmat.com/viewtopic.php?t=3265. It is somewhere between 40 something and 80 something on the various rankings.

Now, Babson is sometimes more well-known in the corporate world than some of the more highly ranked Tier 2 schools. That is likey because Babson offers (A) a 1 year program for students who have a business degree and 2 years work experience; (B) an evening part-time program; and (C)a fast-paced program that combines distance learning with part-time, enabling students to complete the program in 24 months. Because Babson offers so many flexible options for professionals who cannot take two years off and forego two years of salary, companies tend to receive many resumes from professionals who have taken advantage of these programs. Furthermore, I know that Babson does quite a bit of outreach to large blue chip companies who are interested in providing add'l training/education to their employees to set up a corporate sponsored plan for one of the part-time options. So, these are possible reasons why it is so well-known.

I'd encourage you to consider what you are looking to gain from an MBA program and what you want to do next in selecting your schools. I think it would be more difficult to get a top tier professional services firm to consider hiring a Babson grad than a grad from a Tier 2 school, whereas the same might not appy for a company in industry.

Good luck,

Yes I think it is good program. My cousin who is looking for good school offering global MBA program told me once about Boston's university program once.
