Choice A definitely is the right answer. All the modifiers are in place (...to have children who as adolescents...); comparison is fine and correctly done (Authoritative parents are more likely than permissive parents); parallelism is maintained (self-confident, high in self-esteem, and responsibly independent) and subject-verb is correct (Children ... are).

All other choices are unnecessarily wordy and have grammatical errors.

Hi,

The best way to solve such questions is to understand the question first. The Q implies that authoritative parents have children, who (these children) as adolescents are etc etc etc where as permissive parents have children who are not that self-confident, have high self-esteem and responsibly independent.
So, look for the option that supports this statement.

option B: suggests that authoritative parents are more likely to have "adolescent children" -but , thats not the point. we must compare the children's characteristics and not the likelihood of parents having adolescent children

option C: passive voice - so avoid such options . also, the more likely to be self-confident, have a high self-esteem, and to be - incorrect! responsibly independent as adolescents.

option D: suggests that parents have all those qualities . we are talking about children and not parents

option E: wrong comparison- comparing permissive parents and children of authoritative parents

therefore, A is the correct option as it conveys the correct meaning and uses the right grammar

B - Authoritative parents (who....) to have X --- no finite verb to define the main clause.
C - Children are compared to permission parents.
D - Being permissive signifies an ongoing events - not something that meaning dictates.
E - permissive parents vs children, wrong comparison similar to B

Moreover, C,D and E can be deleted for incorrect "more than" structure -- "more" should always be followed by "than".

Hope this helps !!
