I preferred B to D because in D, it has no proper reference, Does it?..we can sense that it refers to cube but the isolated word "cube" never appears in the sentence and one may tend to link "it" to cube's progress

I know that B changes the meaning of the original sentence, but it is right at least grammatically..
But to my surprise, the OA is D.

one of the worst sentences I have seen...

none of the sentences is correct!.... 'its' does not have a singular referent. Cube's progress? shelves? West?

A is definitely wrong because the the intro sentence, "After its international debut" does not modify "the progress". The rule with modifying phrase/clause is that the modifying phrase/clause must modify a noun immediately after the comma. A "progress" cannot have a debt. Thus A,B, and C are wrong. E is similar. "(P)rogress" cannot have a debt. The answer is D.

D seemed appropriate among the answer options.
All the others seem to have modifier errors.
Although I would say that D is not the best framed sentence you would see.
