Area of trapezium

Is the formula for finding Area of Trapezium ( 1/2 *Sum of parallel sides*height ) applicable only to regular trapezium ?

On the GMAT the term will be "trapezoid" and it defines a quadrilateral with two parallel sides. As long as the figure meets that definition the formula applies.
