two small pronoun confusion

we finally chose the cofee table towards the back of the store,which we thought would comlement our living room furniture

well can eomeone help me out here y statement 1 wrong and 2 correct?if i m not wrong then which is ambigous coz it may apply to store and table both rite?but y not it is ambiguous here?or is my logic faulty?someone plz clarify

here it refers to board rite?but donn we generallt use it to refer to nonhuman things? :idea:

In the above sentence since which is close to store, it reads
the store would complement our living room furniture
. Hence incorrect.

I don't know the credibility of the second since i feel it is confusing at that place since the antecedent is not clear coffee table or store.

I believe board , though comprising of humans is considered non-human.

relative pronouns like that and which are somewhat restrictive with regard to their reference. They should refer to the noun phrase that comes before them, whereas personal pronouns like it and they are looser when it comes to reference.

In the original example (from Manhattan SC, right?) the pronoun which refers to the "back of the store" and the sentence is nonsensical.
