An MBA in Finance

by nuggins16 » Mon Dec 14, 2009 7:11 am
Hi Stacey,

I have score of 600 in GMAT and a 2.5 years of work ex in a core banking product.
Could you let me know if there are any finance courses available in NUS,NTU that i could apply for.Feel that the score might be too low to apply for the regular MBA programs.
I believe that one can also apply for MIS programs in the US with GMAT scores. Are you aware of any such colleges
And do you know the GMAT score cut off for an MBA in HEC Paris.

Cheers

Dear nuggins16,

School specific information should be readily available on these school's websites or by contacting them directly. It is always best to check with the schools directly for the most accurate and up to date information. GMAT scores are usually accepted for any master's program housed under a business school. So, if the MIS program is located within a business school of a US university, then it will generally accept a GMAT score unless it specifies otherwise. Once again, you should check with the school directly for the most accurate information.

Good luck,
Lisa

Hey Lisa,

Firstly thanks a lot for your valuable inputs.... When i actually took the gmat preps i got scores of 680(49,33) and 710(50,35) . I was really surprised on the 600(47,26) score... do you have any idea if there has been any significant change in the difficulty level off late...i found the level of questions in the prep cd easier than the main exam..
secondly would you advice on takin the gmat for the second time...

Thanks and Regards,
nuggins16

Since I am not a GMAT instructor, I am probably not the best person to ask GMAT-specific questions of around test questions. However, in my experience, I find that people always score higher on practice tests than the actual test, often by a significant margin (>30 points). So, the reason(s) why are probably numerous and vary based on the individual. If you have only taken it once, then it is probably worth taking it again as most people do take it at least twice and do see a difference in their score on the second attempt.

Good luck,
Lisa
