Medical Researcher: As expected, records covering the last four years of ten major hospitals indicate that babies born prematurely were more likely to have low birth weights and to suffer from health problems than were babies not born prematurely. These records also indicate that mothers who had received adequate prenatal care were less likely to have low birth weight babies than were mothers who had received inadequate prenatal care. Adequate prenatal care, therefore significantly decreases the risk of low birth weight babies.
Which one of the following, if true most weakens the medical researcher’s argument?
a. The hospital records indicate that many babies that are born with normal birth weights are born to mothers who had inadequate prenatal care.
b. Mothers giving birth prematurely are routinely classified by hospitals as having received inadequate prenatal care when the record of the care is not available.
c. The hospital record indicates that low birth weight babies were routinely classified as having been born prematurely.
d. Some babies not born prematurely whose mothers received adequate prenatal care , have low birth weights.
e. Women who receive adequate prenatal care are less likely to to give birth prematurely than are women who do not receive adequate prenatal care
OA B....Plz provide detailed explanation to the correct ans

Conclusion: “Adequate prenatal care significantly decreases the risk of low birth weight babies”
a. Many doesn’t mean majority. These babies might be lucky. Exception just shows an exception.
b. The entire conclusion is based on records collected from some hospital. The option shows a flaw in the records and directly talks about “prenatal care.” Frankly speaking, I was confused between B and C, but finally selected B because it addresses “prenatal care,” which is the main point in the conclusion.
c. Although this is a promising option that shows the flaw in the hospital record, it doesn’t address the conclusion. The option nowhere shows that in-adequate prenatal care increases the risk of low birth weight.
d. This just shows the exception. We can’t generalize this option, so doesn’t weaken the option.
e. Strengthens the argument.

The above question 's explannation in the CR Bible is not quiet clear to me.For the explannation of option C,it states thatLina wrote:Medical Researcher: As expected, records covering the last four years of ten major hospitals indicate that babies born prematurely were more likely to have low birth weights and to suffer from health problems than were babies not born prematurely. The conclusion is about low birth weight babies, not premature babies.Even if low birth weight babies were routinely classified as premature, that would not affect the conclusion.
And the OA is justified with the reason that premature birth is a result of inadequate prenatal care.Although I got the reason why OA is B.But,I have this simple question that the explannation of option C states that being prematurely born is not an issue,i.e. it is not responsible for low birth weights. But the Option B claims that providing adequate pre natal care ensures that the baby is not born prematurely/or minimizes the chances that it is born prematurely and hence reduces the chance that the baby will be born with reduced weight.
Can some one help me with this one?
