Congratulations on your great score. Of course the easy answer is "it depends." The GMAT is only a portion of what's considered by the adcoms of course when they extend offers of admission, but one thing you may not know is that in general, it's the full time programs that are the most competitive since that's what the rankings are based upon. The admissions process for the part time or evening programs at various schools you should find to be more flexible on admissions. Since the data from the part time programs is not included for the ranking evaluations, they don't have to worry as much if their average GMAT for example comes in a little lower. My feeling is that 690 is plenty good enough for part time, but check with admmissions to see what they say. As I said, a lot will depend upon the rest of your package, but 690 should be a competitive score so long as other qualifications are in line.

I was in the same situation as you an year ago and here I am, admitted to Haas EWMBA program in R1. I think a well rounded package is more critical than just GMAT or a good GPA. I think that your GMAT is sufficient provided you have a decent career progression at work( leadership could be a plus), good recos from current and ex managers and essays(I spent 2 months on these) which make a lasting impression on the ADCOM. I have read somewhere that 80% of the applicants feel that they have written great essays while the ADCOM feels that only 20% are relevant. I personally put my heart and soul into the essays. XC's are a plus which I didn't have. I think with your background, you should be focussing on the above aspects.
