Like others i am also stuck between A and E... A mentions that ads increases the desire to smoke... and does not say anythin about the likelihood of picking the habit of smoking....

argument is concerned with reducing the no. of people who smoke...

if i am a smoker -- i might be tempted to smoke as soon as i see a ciggy ad but if am not a smoker then how will it increase a desire in me ?? If the choice was " ads induce a desire...then a would be a clear winner"....

E -- it states that young ppl are highly influenced by ads...we can infer that under this influence they might pick the habit of smokin...so this option weakens author's claim....

but OA is A ...

experts can you pls help???

Argument: Banning will not reduce the no of young ppl who smoke.
A weakening statement: shud be on the lines.. Banning will reduce the no of people

Hence A.

E ideally discusses Young vs Old influence. Doesnt give a solid argument to say if its going to increase or decrease the numbers.
