Hi Friends,

I am having problems in answering the following question. Please help.

Although William Pereira first gained national recognition for his movie set designs, including
those for the 1942 film "Reap the Wild Wind," future generations will remember him as the
architect of the Transamerica Tower, the Malibu campus of Pepperdine University, and the city
of Irvine.

its a distinction between "will" and "no will"

I go with "will" as the sentence is using "future generations"

IMO A. Since we are talking about future generations here, 'will' is required.

I agree with other posters here. We need "will" here to refer to future generations.

Searching for the splits we understand that there are two splits in this case...
1. including / like
2. generations will/ generations

The main clause starts from the word "Future generations" and future generations is also the subjects of the main clause. For subject- verb agreement you need "generations will" not just "generations."
Eliminate B and E.

Among A, C and D,We can use the second split."Like" is used in sentences only to compare between nouns and as there is no comparison of nouns in this case we can eliminate C.

Between A and D, "including those"(plural) correctly refers to the designs(plural). So as per pronoun agreement choose A over E.

"designs" is plural, so we'd need "those" as the correct pronoun. That eliminates C and D.

"gained" is occurring in the past, which is being compared to the "future" so we'd need the future tense here.
