Super Oxy

One of the limiting factors in human physical performance is the amount of oxygen that is absorbed by the muscles from the bloodstream. Accordingly, entrepreneurs have begun selling at gymnasiums and health clubs bottles of drinking water, labeled “SuperOXY,” that has extra oxygen dissolved in the water. Such water would be useless in improving physical performance, however, since the only way to get oxygen into the bloodstream so that it can be absorbed bye the muscles is through the lungs.

Which of the following, if true, would serve the same function in the argument as the statement in boldface?

A. the water lost in exercising can be replaced with ordinary tap water
B. the amount of oxygen in the blood of people who are exercising is already more than the muscle can absorb
C. world-class athletes turn in record performance without such water
D. frequent physical exercise increases the body’s ability to take in and use oxygen
E. lack of oxygen is not the only factor limiting human physical performance

IMO its B.

The argument says that "SuperOXY water would be useless in improving physical performance".

The bold statement strengthens the argument by saying that - only way to get oxygen into the bloodstream so that it can be absorbed bye the muscles is through the lungs.

B also states that this water is useless in a different way - the amount of oxygen in the blood of people who are exercising is already more than the muscle can absorb.
So providing extra oxygen is of no use.

In my opinion, I think B is nearly in line of "out of scope" (if you are looking up side down).

However, I would go with B too, because out of 4 choice doesn't seem to be weaken the statments point.

Choice A does not address such anything of Oxygen. It's provide information only about water and water replacement.

So, please base on your CR skills my friends of B chocie, we should ignore this one question and step forward.

The answer choice B is totally irrelevant. It can in no way replace the highlighted text.
The highlighted text can be replaced by simply proving that superoxy doesn’t work(since oxygen can be taken to muscles only through blood oxygenated by lungs).
The answer should be D. It says even the high performing athletes whose physical performance is enormous don’t take superoxy water. It simply means that oxygen through water is not required or it can be inferred the other way that superoxy water doesn’t work.

I think A is the best choice .
Becos : When you look at the argument as a whole from outside what function is bold face doing (forget about the details) then only A is the correct substitute. It does the same function in a differnt way.

Hey guys, the OA is C.
I just came across this question on GMATPREP Test 2 today.... I picked A, but its C......

My reasoning is:

conclusion of the passage is: Such water would be useless in improving physical performance"

If the "DRINKING" water would be useless for the Oxy to get absorbed by the blood, then the only other way to get Oxy is through our lungs.... and thats Choice C.
