There is no causal or statistical flaw here.

The assumption I am making is that the analogy is the transfer of oxygen from lungs to the blood.

premise: the only way to get oxygen into the bloodstream is through the lungs.

conclusion: water would be useless in improving physical performance,

A is irrelevant as it is talking about water -- but no oxygen

B suggests that people have excess oxygen - but no mention of water

C is giving an example of world-class athletes who can perform without water - Good, because you can assume that the lungs

D is introducing a new factor and is talking about how oxygen can be used - no mention of water

E is stating a causal flaw, but there is no flaw in this argument - no mention of water

IMO B.

The statement in the bold is giving evidence to prove "superOXY is useless".

B is trying to do the same.

One fascinating point here is that I got this question today in my gmatprep. The question was just a little bit modfied.

Accordingly, entrepreneurs have begun selling at gymnasiums and health clubs bottles of drinking water, labeled �SuperOXY,� that has extra oxygen dissolved in the water. Such water would be useless in improving physical performance, however, since the the amount of oxygen in the blood of people who are exercising is already more than the muscle can absorb

Which of the following, if true, would serve the same function in the argument as the statement in boldface?

A. world-class athletes turn in record performance without such water
B. frequent physical exercise increases the body�s ability to take in and use oxygen

OA given was C

Doesnt this question sound fishy as it has 3 options all of which have appeared on the prep test and 2 of the 3 are in answer choices.

are you sure the answer is A, for me A is not relevent
D is more like the answer. this argument is really like the following CR

This question is part of gmat prep but it is being asked with dfferent questin attached ...

for this particular question stem...correct answer is B

I was thinking C also because like the boldface part, it says OXY water is not linked to performance.
