Hi rishi raj,
Can I ask you, which list of idioms did you use to prepare for the GMAT? I have Aristotle SC grail and Manhattan SC? I find Manhattan's list to be extremely tough to try and memorize, meanwhile the Aristotle doesn't look like it would be that hard to memorize. I just bought the Aristotle 1 minute SC explanations to the OG 12. One thing I quickly learned when getting questions wrong is I could of gotten alot right by just knowing idioms, as this is the first split Aristotle instructs to look for. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Last question, did you spend alot of time in the advanced section of Manhattan SC or was the basic section and Aristotle pretty sufficient? Thanks!

Good luck to in your apps and awesome score!

If you know idioms, then in questions on which they're tested, you can easily eliminate some of the options.I think knowing the idioms is a must. Even if you have to memorize them , then go ahead and do that. What I liked about the SC Grail list is that in difficult to remember idioms, it gives you correct and incorrect usage,so memorizing the idioms is a bit easy. You seem to be scared of idioms. Don't worry. Just sit for 2 days and gulp them down and form sentences using idioms and you'll see that you'd have tamed idioms! :)

Thanks! So I'll just use Aritotles list then. That list just seems easier to memorize. When going through Manhattans list, it was way too much information overload! Everyhting else I'm cool with.

Today I have completed one year on BTG. My first birthday on BTG. :) Sept 13,2010 was the date when I posted this post and I never knew that it would hang around here for one year. So many people posted in this thread, a lot of people ended up being good friends. I just love BTG . Three cheers for the way Eric shaped it up! :)

Whoa! Who else than the man himself to wish me on my BTG birthday ! Thanks.I'm sure that I'm gonna be here for at least 2-3 more years to come, if not more. What I like about BTG is that it's no more just a GMAT preparation website. Had it been that, I'd have long stopped visiting the website. Right from MBA application process to what exactly do people do in MBA to what to do post-MBA, there's no dearth of insights in the form of articles and videos and that's what makes me come back here time and again. :)

Done with the GMAT finally. :) I am back after a year discussing schools again :

Phase 1:(by 15th Nov)
1>ISB R2 {birth right of every Indian}-
2>kelley-R1- for the good operations program it has.
3>Smeal (pen state)- looking to this for the great SCM program.

Phase 2:(by Dec/Jan)
1>NTU- {birth right of every Asian :P}Not sure if its a good choice for operations. Any inputs ?
2>Babson Olin excellent for entrepreneurship-(15th Jan)

Thats it. Dont want any safety schools as last year.
If you get time; please provide insights on the US schools i've listed above.
Cheers !!

The list of schools is good. Kelley has got a great operations program and a very good reputation among the employers especially in Mid West. Smeal also has one of the best SCM programs ,and football teams Apart from your MBA, you're going to enjoy their team Nittany Lions' football games.:-D It's also one of the biggest party schools in the US and Nittany Lions has one of the biggest fan following simply because Penn State is one of the biggest schools. Remember that Smeal has a good number of GAs to offer. Prepare an extremely competitive application, get fabulous LORs and prepare a great CV and you may have a good chance of getting a GA. And believe me nothing could be better than that. Your entire tuition for two years will be waived off and on top of that you'll get a monthly stipend also which will take care of your expense. So by the time you graduate, you won't have to worry about paying a hefty loan and in some cases, people actually end up saving a bit too. Voila!seems too good to be true but yes that's a fact. However, since it is a second tier school, you wouldn't be able to leverage on its brand value when you return to India. However, As you want to anyway join your business after an MBA, so I don't think that the brand value is going to matter much to you.

If NTU, then why not NUS ? Don't they have an operations focus ? Babson is the number one school for entrepreneurship. I had researched about it quite a bit and it is really the best for entrepreneurship.

Aren't you looking at XLRI's GMP program ?

Yes, The brand name wont affect me much as I am planning to venture into own business approx 5 yrs down the line. In the intervening few years Smeal may land me a job in the region. I've been following the school since long and also have a very close friend in there. I have 2 mates at Kelley as well :). I am half way through my ISB app, will complete the 3 apps by November. BTW ur knowledge on schools is stunning, I know the tuition/prospects at Smeal but never researched its football team !! that's what makes u rishi raj !!

1>Heard NUS is bad for operations. I am not sure on this though. I've kept these on standby and concentrating on the first 3 schools till November.
2>Babson is a good fit for my profile as well as a backup tool.
3>XLRI's GMP requires 5 years full time experience. I will be completing 4 years by this fall.
Cheers !!

That's all I have been doing for the last one year-researching about schools. In a year, you'd also be able to tell something about most of the schools . :-D
I somehow get a feeling that you should definitely get an interview call from ISB. They are looking for diversity and you sure can provide that.
