720 on GMATPrep...

by salmaan » Sun Mar 07, 2010 9:37 am
My goal is a 700 and I have three weeks left. I am wondering what I can do to make sure I retain my momentum and perform at the right level on Test Day. I never thought doing well on the practice test would worry me so much!

I will post my study process and week areas once this gets published. I tried yesterday and my post is still in purgatory, so I don't want to write everything out again in the case that this post gets blocked...Thanks, everyone!

Ok. Looks like this was immediately posted.

My exam is on March 27.

I have been studying solid for the last 2.5 months. Casually for a few months before that, but just brushing over topics/strategies.

I purchased the Kaplan book in August of last year. Little did I know that: a) the subscription would expire in six months (it's expired now!) and b) its not even close to the best resource I can get and c)their tests aren't accurate

- Regardless, I like their strategies...I have been brushing up on these.
- I have been focusing on OG12 (I'm about halfway done)
- MGMAT app for iPhone to keep my mind stimulated in my down time
- Many references I found from snooping online; Sahil and Spidey's notes, permutation and combinatory worksheets, 'difficult' problem sets, etc...anything I could find on the internet. But I definitely don't want to bog myself down with too many books and materials.

Kaplan Test1: 630
Kaplan Free Live Online Event: 600
GMAT Prep 1: 720 44/44 missed 14 in Quant and 4 in Verbal
There wasn't a specific area I was weak in. It was either silly mistakes (answering the wrong question, etc.) or blatantly having no idea how to figure the problem out. I had about 3 minutes left in Math and 8 in Verbal so I need to practice pacing

MGMAT Practice Exam: ???
GMAT Prep 2: ???

So, considering that GMAT Prep is supposed to generally be the best indication of actual performance, how do I ensure I keep my momentum and build off of what I have accomplished. I hope I am not peaking too early. I haven't practice any particularly difficult practice sets (im only halfway throught the OG problems sets, so I havent even hit the high level problems). Should I just keep working on OG problem? Work on the difficult practice sets? Is there a book that I can get that would benefit me for the last few weeks and not eat into my actual practice time? Should I retake and retake and retake the GMAT Prep tests so I get exposure to difficult problems? Again, my goal is 700. Help me beat the GMAT!

Also, where should I post the problems I can't figure out?

Thanks everyone!!!!

I want to point you to a few resources--first, take a look at this response by Stacey Koprince of Manhattan GMAT regarding the last two weeks of study: https://www.beatthegmat.com/last-14-days ... t5680.html
