I'd prepared for about 2 and a half months. I brought up my quant score with the help of private tutoring. If you're based in London, I highly recommend Ian Stewart - he posts on the forum regularly answering questions. I brought up my quant score from a 41 to a 48. Verbal was always relatively strong, though I think I could have done better on test day.

I'm trying to mitigate a weaker undergrad gpa of 3.3 from a top tier school. I have a strong master's gpa of 4.0 from a top British school and some post-grad business classes with good grades. However, I am left feeling that 710 is simply not strong enough to circumvent the weak undergrad results for the top tier schools I'm applying to.

I would appreciate the BTG community's thoughts on this.

Anyway, here's how I did on each of my practice tests:

4th May 2009 - Gmat prep 1 - 690 (43 q, 42v)
17th May 2009 - Gmat prep 1 (resit 1) - 750 (49 q, 44 v) - 5 math and 12 verbal recognized. I did the test a couple of more times just to get exposure to new questions but kept on coming up against more and more recognized questions.

26 May 09 - MGMAT 1 - 650 (43Q,36V)
27 May 09 - MGMAT 2 - 700 (47Q,38V) - circa 20 minutes over on the math
6 June 09 - MGMAT 3 - 680 (47Q, 36V) c. 10 min over on the math
16 June 09 - MGMAT 4 - 720 (47Q, 41V) c 15 min over on the math
18 June 09 - MGMAT 5 - 740 (47Q, 45 V) c 15 min over in math

02 June 09 - Gmat Prep 2 - 740 (49Q, 44V)

08 June 09 - Gmat Focus - 46-50 (2 or 3 questions recognized from the OG I'm sure)
14 June 09 - Gmat Focus - 44-49 (3 recognized questions from OG)
16 June 09 - Gmat Focus - 44-49
18 June 09 - Gmat Focus - 42-48

Veritas Prep free online diagnostic cat (rubbish test) - 640 (47q, 31v)

That's how I did on my practice tests and scored 710 overall. My recommendations for materials are as follows:

Sentence correction: MGMAT guide is all I used
No practice for CR or RC though perhaps I should have done more for CR

Math - private tutoring

So, I'm debating whether I need to resit given my profile. I'm going for fall 2010 admission so have the time should I decide to resit, but as am yet undecided.

If you got a 710 then you should realize you're in a good spot! To answer your question, "Yes" I think you should resit...resit in the same seat that you're typing this thread and work on the rest of your application. You're done with GMAT!!! *close curtains*

I think you should forget about the GMAT; you have a great score a nice balance in your Q/V scores. I think you should start thinking about your apps and working on your essays.

Congratulations and all the best for your future endeavors!!!
