603. Rembrandt so treasured his collection of Islamic portraits that when forced to sell them in order to raise money, he first made copies of more than twenty.
(A) he first made copies of more than twenty
(B) first he made copies of more than twenty
(C) more than twenty were copied
(D) copies of more than twenty were made
(E) he copies more than twenty of them first

Please help me answer this question. Please explain why you have opted the one.

Rembrandt so treasured his collection of Islamic portraits that when forced to sell them in order to raise money, he first made copies of more than twenty.

(A) he first made copies of more than twenty (correct)
(B) first he made copies of more than twenty (first = adverb...should modify verb 'made')
(C) more than twenty were copied (wr correct ...bcoz of More; but passive construction; lack independent clause)
(D) copies of more than twenty were made (need independent clause - 'when...money, he...' might hv been correct; passive construction)
(E) he copies more than twenty of them first (past tense required)
