Q No 38).

idiom "More .... as" WRONG
"More.... than" CORRECT

The answer would be "C"

Q No 40).

equal will change the meaning of the sentence. Sentence is giving approximate (about equivalent to the enrollment of the nation's four-year colleges and universities.) and equal will gives you exact. Equal is to compares amount not the count.
As many as is an Idiom

But unfortunate the stmt is not referring to any subject :(.

The answer would be "E"

Q No 41).

Definitely "B" is not the answer because "1905 suffer major depression" is in present tense which is not correct

Debate is only between "A" and "C". "C" has some tense mismatches.

The answer would be "A".

Q No 42).

Idiom Plan on is not correct .....B is wrong.. C,D,E doesn't make sense.

The answer would be "A".

Enough for today .. If possible will do more tomorrow... :)

What is the differences between A(The elderly........as) & C (The elderly........than)

OA : C
The structure of sentence is more likely to X than to Y... i.e. a combo of parallelism and Idiom..
IDIOM: 'More' follows 'than' always.. this is also applicable to other adjectives as well. For eg. less than, higher than, faster
than..

'as' is Incorrect in such comparison.

OA : E
the modifier "about equivalent to.." is modifying Eight Million people..Hence modifier should state the number of people enrolled in. A & D are not making illogical comparison, stating 8M people are equivalent to universities &....

B,C, E are stating the correct intended meaning, but B&C are quite wordy: equal to those who... & the equivalent to those.

E: short and simple: as many as are enrolled in..Correctly modifing the number of ppl.

(D) major depression is suffered by the age of seventy-five by only one percent of Americans born before 1905, and by age twenty-four by the six percent born since 1955
(E) Americans born before 1905 suffer major depression by the age of seventy-five only one percent of the time, but six percent of those born since 1955 did so by age twenty-four

Why Not B, OA : A
what does 'They' stands for: those 1% american ??
"if they are born: means the same people if born 1955 then...THINK how can those same people again born.

Rule to apply: whenever, in comparison, 2 different pots are discussed i.e. 2 different group, remove 'they' use 'those'
Not sure If I am able to state this rule perfectly, but Read Manhattan Advanced strategy chapter 12 for this rule.

(E) it is nearly four times as likely for minority graduates than other graduates to plan to practice

Plz explain any easy strategy?

OA : C
A: "in planning to" ..Unidiomatic. Use "to plan"
B: requires 'are'...Read ron's explanation about such comparison: https://www.beatthegmat.com/soar-t62473- ... bcc12c8ac0

D: more.. requires than. There is only one 'than' which is used for rather.
E: as likely as: IDIOM : as...X..as : Missing second 'as'

(D) economic disaster for the small farmer will result from planting the same crops as on the large farms; they
(E) the small farmer planting the same crops as are planted on large farms will lead to economic disaster; they

IMO :C, but OA : A
C: changes meaning:Correct form should be: planting same crops as are planted in large farms.
C compares crops to large farms. Hence Incorrect.

(C) modeled the face of the statue like his mother and the body like his wife
(D) made the face of the statue after his mother and the body after his wife
(E) made the face of the statue look like his mother and the body look like his wife

IMO : E but OA:B
For E to be correct: you require 'that of' infront of 'his mother' and 'his wife' . where that will refer to 'face'

both E and D are valid comparison, but railroad employees doesn't make any sense. it should be "employees of the railroad" If you search OG with keyword "timber wolf density", you will find an official eg of this error.

Sonu, why doesn't "railroad employees" make any sense? I'm sure many of us have seen the term "store employees" in print on multiple occasions, but I've yet to see "employees of the store". Of course, if I can't compare "railroad" to "store" in this context, then my example is invalid anyway.
I'm really old, but I'll never be too old to become more educated.

Tomada, Difficult question for a non-native English speaker, But went by OG hearing. Here is what i think:

Searched "employees of railroad" in google, got About 3,140,000 results
Searched "railroad employees" in google, got About 787,000 results

After reading a few, I felt both are fine in its context and after reading the question again, my stand was vindicated.

D has an S/V error: increase..were. The "railroad employee" or "employees of the railroad" seems just a distraction.

(D) In addition to the increase in hourly wages that were requested last July, the railroad employees are now seeking an expanded program of retirement benefits.
