Hi Beat The GMAT Community,

GMAT prep and MBA admissions can be really grueling at times. That's why I started this community five years ago, to create a positive environment where people can support and encourage each other throughout their business school journey. And yesterday evening, our team added a new feature to add a little bit more fun to our community: the ability to earn badges and rewards!

Around the office, we're calling this our 'social game', and we're going to be building it out a lot over the next few months. You'll be able to earn badges for things that you do in our community, like visiting our GMAT/MBA Library, getting followers, and writing posts. And over time, this game will allow you to unlock special prizes on our site to reward you for your active GMAT/MBA prep, like Beat The GMAT t-shirts!

To celebrate this launch we have a simple game we're kicking off: if you earn 30 badges before June 8, 2011, you'll be eligible to win 1 of 25 official Beat The GMAT t-shirts! More details here: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/badge-contest

Thanks everyone for your support, and look out for some even BIGGER features coming to our community in the next two months!

Hey Eric. Ya it is fun! I assumed this would end on June 8th. But from your post, it looks like the badges are here to stay! Looks fun!
Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)

Hi Vineesh,

Glad that you like the badges! The badges are going to be a permanent part of our site from now on. FYI, there are many more than 30 badges that you can earn on our site even today. But I'll leave it up to you to find out what they are. :D And we're going to be adding more badges and games over time. :)

This a fun feature! How does one earn these badges? I see a few on my profile - how did these show up?

@seizeverychance, glad you like the badges! You earn them by just doing things that you would normally do on BTG, like visiting the GMAT/Library, posting forum messages and following other users. There are over 150 badges that you can collect. :) For hints, just hover your mouse over any badge.
