NEW TITLE: Tutoring - pros and cons.

(Changed title on Friday, Oct. 27) NOTE: I originally posted this on Monday, 10/23. Since my note caused some confusion, I've chosen to re-label. I will add some additional thoughts (as a reply to this topic) on (1) who should consider tutoring and (2) how to get the most from tutoring. I just read...

PR was helpful but I believe maybe I should go through it again and try to memorize the concepts while also practicing some math equations. I just started working on the Kaplan GRE & GMAT workbook this week. You can't read math instructions like you read the newspaper. You need to WORK the math...

This is an interesting SC. You might think that the construction SHOULD be plural, because the writer is describing sloths are around the world. However, in English, we are allowed to describe a class of entities as a singular. The ambitious student is characterized by continually striving to to bet...

Re: but then...

But then... Option II doesn't say... "They ARE waiting for Bus no 265".. it says ... "They are PROBABLY waiting for bus no 265".. which means.. they may be waiting for other buses (not mentioned here) also... and we can safely assume that... Option II is correct I also agree wit...

If you'd like topical organised math work, then the Kaplan GMAT Math Workbook is a great resource.

Well, if you are three weeks away, you should be taking CAT exams. Don't even think about takeing the exam for real until you've done a number of simulated CAT exams If you were 6 weeks away, I would strongly encourage you to work through the Official Guide. Poke around this sight, there's lots of g...

As promised, I've done some actual analysis of the degree of overlap between OG 10 and OG 11. As I might have guessed, my general sense of things IS correct, but my estimates were too high. I knew that it would be quickest and easiest to evaluate the degree of overlap in DS and RC. (I was able to co...

I think that I've gotta disagree with WiLDREBEL. I've tutored (and taught GMAT classes) extensively with both the 10th and 11th editions of the OG. While I wouldn't necessarily encourage anyone to LOOK for the 10th edition instead of the 11th, there's little reason - in my view - for anyone who owns...

Syrian.

Your plan seems good. Be fleexible in your planning. I would suggest that you continue to do math work while you spend the time on verbal.

The Deecember 2 may be fine for you, but it might be the perfect time.

Stay flexible and work hard.

This is NOT a typical GMAC question, but ... option II is not good. This is so, because the original stimulus didn't include the word ONLY. The original says: The bus stop outside New Malden police station is visited by the 131 and 265 buses. However for that statement to work the way you'd like it ...

The answer is indeed B. Having said that, B is NOT a great answer. (But it's better than the other 4.) The argument says that 'vacationers account for more than half of the visitors to aquariums.' Just to be clear, this doesn't mean that half of all the vacationers go to aquariums. It means that hal...

Gee I ain't Eric, but I suppose that I'd buy light card stock. (Regular paper is 20 lb, so probably 40 - 80 lb would be good. You can ask the folks at STAPLES or the the stationary store or copy shop) And then I'd cut them with a papercutter ...

Where is this from ?
------------

The reason that I ask is that it seems to me that it's not a very good Q.

In other words, I'd be surprised if it's an actual GMAC, TPR, Manhattan GMAT or Kaplan Q.

There are problems with the question ...

Re: feedback wanted!!

“All groups and organizations should function as teams in which everyone makes decisions and shares responsibilities and duties. Giving one person central authority and responsibility for a project or task is not an effective way to get work done.” The statement argues the positive effect of a lead...

The ARCO GRE/GMAT Math Review is okay. The table of contents (and the book's general organisation) is not ideal, but it is filled with good problems. It's NOT as good a book (IMO) as the Kaplan GMAT MATH WORKBOOK, 5th Ed. (which is all but identical to the Kaplan GMAT GRE Math Workbook, 4th Ed.). As...
