Has -Correct Usage

Just three years ago, the lute, a stringed instrument invented in the tenth century, has experienced a rapid rise in popularity due to renewed interest in acoustic music.

A)has experienced a rapid rise in popularity
B)experienced a rapid rise in popularity
C)has experienced what was a rapid rise in popularity
D)the popularity of which experienced a rapid rise
E)had experienced a rapid rise in popularity

Why not A ?

"has experienced" is present perfect.This means some event occurs in the past and still continuing.

But in the original sentence the event occurs in the past and simple past tense "experienced" is used.

Why not A ?
A cant be the answer because of " three year ago"
ago is a sign to tell you it IS past simple tense
