Profile Evaluation

by reddy_modu » Thu Jun 23, 2011 1:24 pm
Hi
I am a college Junior
Indian/M/20 (From what i understand this is a disadvantage)
Undergraduate- 3.7 predicted (magna cum laude), Bentley University, USA
Finance and Psychology major
GMAT- 760 (The average of my last three tests. I am applying for a MS in Finance)

Extra
- Co-Founder of 'Shakti' an NGO in Central India. It provides education in remote parts of the country
- Co-founder and President of Bentley Chess Group
-National Level Chess Player
-I also intend to do the CFA

It would be great if you could tell me, how i could enhance my profile?

I have been considering going for a Masters in finance from a top European school (LSE,Imperial College, HEC,Warwick and Oxford). Later, I intend to peruse an MBA from a top business school. From the feedback that I have received it seems that I would need to give the MBA admission committee an explanation is to why I need other masters degree.
My question is: Will I perusing a master's degree in finance hurt my chances of an MBA from a top school? (H/S/W)

Note: The only reason i am doing a MS in Finance is so that i can get a head start in the Finance Industry.
Thanks in advance!!! :)

Hi,

My advice here is to be sure that you know what it is you want to do (career wise) before you decide to invest in two master degrees. Do you really need the MS in Finance to get the job you want? Would it be better to get the best job you can and then apply for an MBA program in a 2-4 years? Bschools like candidates to have work experience - so just be sure the best use of your time and money is in getting your MS in Finance.

Regards,

Stacey
