590 - Help Needed

by vamsigmat2012 » Tue Aug 16, 2011 7:09 am
Hi All,

I took my second GMAT today and scored 590(Q 48,V 25). My first attempt too was 590(Q49,V 24,AWA 5). I thought this will be my limit.

My CATS:-
MGMAT 1: 580
MGAMT 2: 590
MGMAT 3: 580
GMAT PREP 1: 600
GMAT PREP 2: 600
KNEWTON: 620

My quant score is consistent always. Verbal score never exceeded 27.

Sentence correction: almost 12/14 correct on an average
Critical Reasoning: 10/15 correct on average
Reading Comprehension: 2 or 3 correct out of 14 on average.

Can someone help me with the schools in my radar.

Thanks
Vamsi

Hi Vamsi,

Sorry to hear that you did not performance as per your expectations. Now that you can look back and ruminate - do you see anything you could have done to improve?

If you feel this is your best shot then I would suggest that you look at schools where the average GMAT is in the 600 range. Still better - ensure that your scores are bang in between their median score range (if published). You should be able to get a list from businessweek.com

Hi Arun,

My RC has ruined my score. I was never a good reader. I solely depend on strategies and logic. Reading long and boring topics was a big turn off.

Somehow I have to find a way to improve my RC.

Hi Vamsi

Maybe you need to change your attitude towards the RC. You may think that it's boring, but ultimately it's going to give you the GMAT score you want.

Cheers
Siddharth
