is x>y?

1) x+y<0

2)x-y>0

OAb
please explain why statement 1 is not suff. If x = -3 and y = -2 then the answer is false, hence suff right?
(1) x + y < 0. The only manipulation you can get from this is that x < -y. This doesn't seem like much help so let's produce a counter example.

Choose x = -1, y = -2. Then x + y = -3 < 0 and x > y.
Choose x = -2, y = -1. Then x + y = -3 < 0 and x < y.

This is insufficient.

(2) x - y > 0. Add y to both sides and we get x > y. This is sufficient. The answer is B.
