Statement 1:

1) Substitute X = 1/2 gives us Y = + SQRT(10/3) , - SQRT (10/3)

Which will tell us Y is not equal to 1 , Which is sufficient

2) Substitute X = 1/2 gives us Y = 1 ( exactly ) which is sufficient to answer

Hence D be the answer in my point of view, Please let me know how it got B as answer

it gives us +(10/7)^2 and -(10/7)^2.... it's suff anyways...
