Male Officer: Female Officer

What is the ratio of male to female officers in the police force in town T?

1. The number of female officers is 250 less than half the number of male officers.
2. The number of female officers is 1/7 the number of male officers.

1. not suff

w = m -250

if w = 1 then m = 251 so ratio = 251/1
if w = 3 then m = 253 so ratio is 253/3

2. w = 1/7 m
so m/w = 7/1 i.e. suff

to find out M/F
St.1) F= M-250 but total is not known so can't calculate M/F ========insuff.
St.2) F = M/7 --> M/F = 7========suff.
