please explain distance problem

distance remaining from the second stop was 3/4 of the remaining distance

thus x*(3/4) = 120
x =160

but this is the distance from the destination destination to the first stop point which is actually half the total distance

so total distance is 320

Let the total distance be x.
she travelled 1/2 the distance ie x/2. Remaining distance = x/2
Then she travelled 1/4 of x/2 = x/8 more before next stop.

Totally distance travelled: x/2 at the first stop + x/8 at 2nd stop = 5x/8

Remaining distance = 3x/8.
Now we are told that 3x/8 = 120.

Solving we get x = 320.
