Problem

In a survey of Students, each student selected from a list of 12 songs the 2 songs that the student liked best. If each sing was selected 4 times, how many students were surveyed?

(A) 96
(B) 48
(C) 32
(D) 24 <<-- ANSWER
(E) 18

So How I solve this problem?

We know that there will have to be 48 total song choices since 12 * 4 = 48.

Since there are 2 choices per student, we know that there must be 24 students because 48/2 = 24.
