Sequence Beast!

In a sequence of terms in which each term is three times the previous term, what is the fourth term?

(1) The first term is 3.

(2) The second-to-last term is 310.

OA is A

I dont understand the second statement.. Please explain in detail... :?
With the second statement... We can figure out the last term and the pervious terms right?? So I thought the answer would be D... :evil:

I am guessing choice 2 does not correspond to n = 4 terms. the second to last term could be 3,4,5...and so on?

If second to last term is 310 then the term before is 310/3 and so on.. So from this data we can't surely tell what will be the fourth term... Thats why A is the only answer :D

You might have assumed that there are exactly 4 numbers in the sequence. But, it's not mentioned that there are just 4 terms in statement (2).

Let's assume there are 4 numbers. 3rd can 310. If there are 10 numbers 9th can be 310. Accordingly 4th terms varies too.
