A segment 15 meters long can be divided into how many segments 30 centimeters long? (1 meter = 100 centimeters)

A. 50
B. 20
C. 5
D. 2
E. 1/2

The OA is A.

Segment length = 15 m = 1500 cm
length of smaller segments (on division ) = 30 cm

S, total number of smaller segments = 1500/30 = 50

Please, can someone explain another way to solve this PS question? Thanks in advance!

Hi BTGmoderatorLU.

You also can write 30cm as 0.3 m.

Then, we have to divide the total length of the segment by 0.3m, that is to say $$\frac{15m}{0.3m}=\frac{15}{3\cdot10^{-1}}=\frac{5}{10^{-1}}=5\cdot10=50\ \ \ segments.$$ Hence, the correct answer is the option
A=50
.

I hope it can help you.

Regards.

Since 15 m = 1500 cm, then a 15-meter segment can be divided into 1500/30 = 50 30-centimeter segments.
