Assume the notepads are in two sizes, Large and Small
Notepad packages are such that each packages contains 3 pads of the same size - either Large or Small
No. of ways of making Large sized packages of same color = 4
No. of ways of making Small sized packages of same color = 4
No. of ways of making packages such that each package has three different colors but of the same size =
4C3 + 4C3
=4+4
=8
Total no. of ways making packs = 4+4+8 = 16 (The Answer)

hi lokesh
nice question. i believe one thing is for sure that this is a combination question. ok
now as per the question and your assumptions i will list out all the possible combinations for u:-
Same color and same size:
1) b1,b1,b1
2) g1,g1,g1
3) y1,y1,y1
4) p1,p1,p1
5) b2,b2,b2
6) g2,g2,g2
7) y2,y2,y2
8) p2,p2,p2
Different color and same size:
9) b1,g1,y1
10) b2,g2,y2
11) b1,g1,p1
12) b2,g2,p2
13) g1,y1,p1
14) g1,y2,p2
15) b1,p1,y1
16) b2,p2,y2
I hope this clears the picture for you. Nice solution euro. I did a mistake while solving this one. Instead of addition i multiplied and got 32 at first and then later realized my mistake. Thanks again
